Transportation is a part of our operations, and we have several ways to ensure that these are carried out in accordance with our climate values. We make active choices regarding everything from stackable boxes and packaging to increase load capacity to the type of containers we use.
To the extent possible, we also coordinate our deliveries with others to optimize and make the most of the space. We also pay an additional fee for our maritime transport to use a more environmentally friendly fuel.
To minimize the climate impact of our transport, we avoid air transport and always prefer trains and ferries for our trailers when possible. In addition to the many active choices we make, we also compensate for our transport emissions to stores by supporting solar energy projects in India.
We have concrete environmental goals that ensure we follow up and evaluate our development and improvement regarding sustainability efforts. Some of the goals include reducing the group's electricity consumption by 30% per square meter and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 30% by the year 2030.
We use fossil-free and carbon-neutral energy in our stores, offices, and warehouses, meaning that all the electricity we use is produced from fossil-free energy sources that do not emit any carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, such as solar, wind, water, and nuclear power.
Sorting waste and ensuring that trash, debris, and packaging are recycled is also part of our sustainability work, and we aim to recycle 90% of all the waste we generate. By being a member of the Packaging and Newspaper Collection, we contribute to financing the recycling of packaging in accordance with the producer responsibility law.
When you shop with us, we want you to feel that we take responsibility. We want the conscious choices we make in our operations around the world and here at home to also reach you as a customer. The bags you carry your new items in are both climate-compensated and made from biodegradable materials.
If you shop in our online store, the products have been picked using electric forklifts in our warehouse and shipped in e-commerce bags made from recycled plastic. All the boxes purchased by our logistics facility in Sweden are FSC-certified, meaning that the forest from which the pulp comes must be managed and harvested sustainably.
We also ensure that all our product packaging has clear recycling labels, making it easy for you to sort waste correctly. Last but not least, for all dog owners out there—every one of our waste bags is produced from recycled plastic, and all our beds with fluffy filling are stuffed with recycled materials. We believe that this makes for a better night's sleep.
