Today, Dogman is established in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. Our range is available for purchase in both pet stores and zoo specialist stores as well as grocery stores.

 

Our history

 

Dogman has a long history and over 50 years of entrepreneurship with the well-being of pets in focus. It all started during the time when the Beatles were booming out of the speakers and the hippie culture was in full bloom in a 40 square meter basement room in Lund in 1965. For a few years, the business was run from eleven different basement rooms before the move to a common larger room in Lund. The founder Hans Jerenäs set the words of honor early on "secure deliveries" and "high productivity", which are still relevant today.

 

In 2004, Dogman AS was established in Norway. Two years later, in 2006, Hans Jerenäs sold Dogman to the company's current owner, BrA Invest AB – a family business owned by the brothers Stefan, Kenneth and Christer Andersson. In the same year, Dogman ApS was also established in Denmark.
As we grew, there was soon a need for larger and more efficient premises. In 2010, Dogman moved to a newly built office and 8,000 m2 state-of-the-art high-rise warehouse in Åstorp outside Helsingborg, right next to the E4. Already two years later, the warehouse was expanded to 12,000 square meters in order to be able to house all products. In 2010, Dogman Oy was also established in Finland.

 

In 2011, Dogman bought Jacson of Scandinavia, one of the oldest and leading equestrian wholesalers in Sweden and the Nordics. With the Jacson brand, we were also able to offer a well-selected range for horse and rider.
Today, Dogman has over 130 employees in the Nordics and turnover at group level is approximately SEK 395 million.

Think about it for a moment. What chew bones, candies or toys would you want if you were the one who walked on four legs and had a tail? Probably the ones that are thoroughly tested, full of flavor and made by someone who is passionate about their products. Admittedly, we do not usually sample our own products. However, we have plenty of office dogs who are happy to pitch in.


Ever since the beginning of the 60s, we have developed and sold chewing bones. This has given us many years of experience and plenty of time to find the best suppliers. We have many years of close cooperation with a few selected manufacturers in Asia, Central America and Europe. Together, we are constantly adapting and developing our range to be the best choice for your best friend. Today, we are the Nordic region's largest supplier of dog chews with over 100 unique items in the range.

Dogman's operations are weighed daily against the responsibility to contribute to sustainable social development. It is our responsibility to ensure that what we do and the range we offer does not place an unnecessary burden on the environment and people.

 

Dogman meets the authorities requirments

•   Pays fee to FTI (Packaging and newspaper collection) and Elkretsen
•   Reporting to the Swedish Agricultural Agency and the Chemicals Inspectorate
•   Complies with EU legislation for the labeling of animal feed and chemical products

•   Products: environmentally friendly materials, less packaging materials
•   Transports: collaboration with forwarding companies that take environmental considerations into account

 
Environment

The environment is a shared heritage and responsibility. What is done today affects the environment in the future. Therefore, it is obvious for Dogman to work to minimize the impact on the environment. By considering environmental aspects, Dogman can contribute to sustainable development for today's and tomorrow's generations.

Dogman's environmental work aims to strengthen and improve work in the areas where operations can have the most impact, namely transport and products. Among other things, environment-specific requirements are placed on all transport and we strive to be able to offer products with a low environmental impact.

Environmental work means that employees are encouraged to take responsibility and contribute, as well as to engage in dialogue with suppliers to find new solutions that involve less environmental impact.

 
Social responsibility

Dogman strives to act as the responsible company. We make demands on both ourselves and our business partners. The work with CSR issues is systematic and ultimately the responsibility lies with the company board. Social responsibility is important for Dogman's brand and for good business.


Dogman's CSR policy and code of conduct are followed up and revised annually.
The code of conduct is based on the ten principles of the UN Global Compact, which include:


•   UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights
•   The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child
•   ILO requirements for working conditions
•   Reduced environmental impact through the Rio declaration
•   UN Convention against Corruption

The code of conduct is included as part of the purchase agreements that Dogman signs with its suppliers. With a large geographic spread of suppliers, it is a long-term effort to implement the code of conduct. Through the purchase agreements, the suppliers undertake to operate in accordance with internationally recognized minimum standards for human rights, labor law, the environment and corruption. Dogman supports the suppliers in their work to comply with the code of conduct.
